FoGR sponsors an award at the
2006 Art in the Redwoods festival
Friends of the Gualala River (FoGR) sponsored an award at the Art in the Redwoods festival in 2006, for the fifth year in a row.
A cash prize of $100 contributed by the Friends of the Gualala River was given to the artist who best captured the ecology of the Sonoma-Mendocino coast, as determined by the festival judges.
Congratulations to artist Marylou Schingler for her award-winning oil painting "Lyell Fork - Late Summer," which won the first place award for oil & acrylic paintings, as well as the Environmental Award sponsored by Friends of the Gualala River.

The 45th annual Art in the Redwoods festival took place on Saturday, August 19 and Sunday, August 20, 2006, and featured over 400 fine art entries.
The art exhibit is on display at the Gualala Arts Center through September 3 (although Ms Schingler's painting is no longer on display, having been purchased by a fortunate art patron). There is no charge to see the exhibit, which is open to the public from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. weekdays, and from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. on weekends.
